After a vote in favor, Eos Block providers approved to change the protocol, reducing the cost of opening new accounts.
The EOS blockchain project is aiming to increase the amount of new users by reducing the cost of opening accounts.
One of the 15 out of 21 block producers in favore, Eos NY, announced the approval of the new protocol update which reduces costs of a new account from 4 to 3 kibibytes, allowing new accounts to have 1,400 bytes of RAM for free, that can be sold, delegate or undelegated.
The goal is to make account creation easier, in order to bring decentralised app (dApp) developers on board. As dApp developers will have to create users’ accounts or force users to pay to create accounts "lowering the cost "dramatically reduces the barriers to development".
